Abstract:
We have developed a photo-realistic driving view generation system with
real-image synthesis. Unlike most driving simulators, this system does not only
use CAD-based objects but also use real image captured from real world, which
leads to rich photo-reality and less human cost. Our system can change a
viewpoint freely according to driving operation of users by image processing.
Just capturing omni-directional video along the driving course in advance is
enough for acqireing real image data. Both CAD-based view and real image-based
view is appropriately synthesized into one according to each depth position from
the viewpoint. The system can work as a module of "Mixed-Reality Traffic
Experiment Space," a complex of driving and traffic simulator which was
developed in a collaborative research project in our institute (Intelligent
Systems Lab , and Computer
Vision Lab)
